It's no news that the Federal Government of Nigeria have instructed every citizens to link their National Identification Number (NIN) to their Sim to avoid getting blocked.
A year since the enrollment has begun, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has instructed telecommunication companies in Nigeria to start blocking subscribers that are yet to link your NIN.
Some subscribers are having difficulties linking their NIN to their phone numbers which is why I decided to share quick guidelines on how to link your NIN to Airtel line.
How to link NIN to Airtel line
Different network providers have different ways of linking NIN which I am going to teach you easier to link your Airtel Sim to NIN faster.
There are several ways to link NIN to your Airtel, you can link it via dial USSD, Airtel mobile app or through NIMC Mobile ID App.
The easiest and fastest way to link your Airtel Sim to NIN is to simply dial *121# on the Airtel line you wish to link.
Reply 1 for “NIN Capture”, the next screen will ask you to enter your 11-digit NIN and send.
If you don't know your NIN, you can simply dial *346# on the number you used when registering for the National Identification Number (NIN).
Easy way on how to Link your NIN to Airtel number, dial USSD code, *121*1# on your phone and send it, it is applicable for all Airtel subscribers.
Don't wait till your number is blocked, link your National Identification Number (NIN) to your phone number. Just dial *121*1# now to link, and *346# to know your NIN.
How to link NIN to Airtel online
Another way to link NIN to your Airtel Sim is online and it is easy to follow.
Go to Airtel website (click here https://www.airtel.com.ng/nin/)
Enter your Airtel number from either ‘8 or 9’
Click on SEND OTP
Enter your email address or alternate number to receive the OTP and then click on proceed
Enter the OTP and tap on confirm
Enter NIN and confirm.
How to link NIN to Airtel using the NIMC Mobile ID App
You can alternatively use NIMC Mobile App to link NIN to your Airtel.
Download the MWS: NIMC Mobile ID app via your app store
Enter your 11-digit NIN
Enter the OTP for verification
Tap on the My Devices button
Then add mobile number and OTP and confirm.
How to confirm Airtel-NIN status
To confirm if actually, the NIN submission was successful. Just go ahead and follow this step:
Dial *121*1#
Instead of receiving step 3 above (entering your 11 number) You will be redirected to add Additional Numbers to your NIN.
With such a simple display on your screen, you will be able to identify if your Airtel number has been officially linked to NIN.
